Oil Wells in Midland, Texas

During a drive from Los Angeles on I-10 and I-20, we passed through vast tracts of uninhabited wilderness and open country of Texas. But the unique feature in all these seemingly uninhabited tracts of land was the presence of strange looking machinery which seemed to be working incessantly drawing something from the depths of the earth. Later I came to know that these were oil and natural gas wells, there were hundreds of them.

For those of you like me who haven’t seen a real oil well here are some pictures of the oil rigs I saw in Texas.
